Wet enough for you? Welcome to the desert! Come on in out of the rain.
Wet enough for you? Welcome to the desert! Come on in out of the rain.
And then we have the Quail! Can you see the 5 teens?
In the continuing saga of City Girl Vs the Oliver Outback today I have found a Clutch of Quail Eggs in my wheelbarrow.
The nest is very hard to see and I will try not to hover while waiting for the eggs to hatch.
This is one of the fazes the chicks will go through a styling teen with bad hair and the start of a dewy on his or her head. Enjoy the weekend!

Greetings to our regular readers, and welcome to our new ones.
Sorry Sage fans . . forgot what day it was!
These two chapters mark the beginning of Part Three – Tallgrass.
In these chapters we meet Tallgrass, Sage’s son, and begin to see how he does in the city. We also get re-introduced to some of the people Sage met earlier, and she hears some news from home.

From the desk of command centre, oliveronline.ca is one year old!
Today is sunny with just a wisp of designer clouds. . . and the sweet sounds of my neighbours getting a new roof!
Oliveronline’s first post was “Art in Oliver”
I had no Idea what I wanted to accomplish? I just knew this was the right direction!
The Rip-off’s were my second story. . . they are at the Quail’s Nest again this week.

One Story found Rebel Luv’s Mikkie and Ken actually dancing to someone else’s music!!! at the Back Alley Concert Series at the Firehall Brewery.
Next concert is July 21st is the band, The Slamdogs. Tad, Alfie and Eddie from the local Kelowna outfit will be playing classic rock all evening long.
Also on hand will be:
Artist: Caroline Whyte
Winery: Intersection Winery
Cidery: Howling Moon Craft Cider
Distillery: The Dubh Glas Distillery
Food: Vagabond Kitchen
Enjoy the bands, check out the the Artist and the special guests with Art for your glass!
I am not going to go on and on with a recap of the stories, but you do know I could, the bottom line is how much fun I have had and the great feed back from the stories about the people of Oliver. So at the age of 63 I have added Blogger to my resumé.
oliveronline.ca shall continue.
We have made it through our first year in biz.
I thank the readers and the advertisers and all those who let me put up their photos.
What’s next . . I can hardly wait to see!
Maybe just a few of my fav photos!

Yuppers! These photos show a lot of fun in Oliver!
Will be out and about with my camera, stop me and say hi!
Also I am going to give myself a challenge . . . to use just my cell phone for photos for one day.
Just the thought of not having my camera makes me . . .
Again, I thank the amazing community of Oliver!

Visit our neighbours to the south, most homes have a flag flying proudly.
Not here in Canada, we really don’t wave our flag. I went for a cruise around the hood looking for flags. Pleased to say I found some!
As you can see, Outdoor Girl Friend needs her flag replaced. I will get on that!
We need to replace this one too!
Brand spankin’ new this morning!
Love this . . Canada Rocks! And it is heart shaped.
In 1964, Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson formed a committee to resolve the ongoing issue of the lack of an official Canadian flag, sparking a serious debate about a flag change to replace the Union Flag. Out of three choices, the maple leaf design by George Stanley,[2] based on the flag of the Royal Military College of Canada, was selected. The flag made its first official appearance on February 15, 1965; the date is now celebrated annually as National Flag of Canada Day.
Found a wee bit out on the National Anthem as well today. Do you remember all the words? I confess I do lip sync a bit.
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all of us command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
Wikipedia says “O Canada” is the national anthem of Canada. The song was originally commissioned by Lieutenant Governor of Quebec Théodore Robitaille for the 1880 Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day ceremony; Calixa Lavallée composed the music, after which, words were written by the poet and judge Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier.

Visitors from Barcelona, left – right, Albert, Gerald, Ariadna and Natalie
Hanging out in the Buy Low parking lot looking for someone to talk to about Canada I met four visitors from Barcelona.
The foursome are on an adventure, picking fruit, meeting people and traveling around.
What do you like about Canada?
Best country in the world, they say. The men are very polite said Ariadna. Don’t ever change, lovely smiles on the street, people say hi.
But! They agreed, the border security was tough, it is too cold, and the chocolate is too expensive.
Come on Canada we can lower the price of chocolate, after all it is a food group!
I think they gave Canada a great review.
Happy Canada Day and let the fireworks begin!

Watercolour, 2015
A year ago the wee seed for oliveronline.ca was planted.
I was waiting on Main Street with contract and the 2nd biggest cheque I had ever written in hand and I got stood up. Will admit I was spitting mad!
However if plan A doesn’t work, what is plan B?
OLIVERONLINE.CA
So I thank plan A for standing me up, because I love my blog about the good stuff in Oliver!
This watercolour of the tree was done in the amazing watercolorist Dianne Bersea’s class. Check out her work!. https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/dianne-bersea.html

This is one of my fav poems.
Designing Women, designing painted dresses.
All paintings were unique to the designer and fabulous! A reflection of the individual designers spirit!
Stay tuned for more classes at the Maker Place and the next Maker Place Designer Dress Paint night!

Photos by Brenda Parfitt of One up Oliver!

These two chapters mark the end of Part Two – The City. Part Three begins next week.
Sage gets educated and works with the Professor. Then the newspaper reporters come around and her life takes a startling turn.
This brings us to the halfway point in the story, and that’s a good time for me to ask my readers for their input. Are you enjoying reading about Sage? Are you looking forward to future chapters? Is there anything more you’d like to know about Sage or her world? If so, then please post a comment at OliverOnline or on the Green Comet website letting us know. Then we can get on to Part Three.-)
Thank you
