Styling at the Painted Chair

Just a wee bit more retail therapy today, you know my motto – A girl has got to shop!

Found these Ladies at the Painted Chair, left Laura from France and Elsa right, from Brussels found themselves some great T’s. Laura and Elsa are pickers travelling the world together. When asked about Oliver, they say “Life is Good!”. Don’t we know that in Oliver!

Show Me the Money!

Lovely day in paradise, lunch with The Dressmaker Dianne Gibson at Gecko’s Grill. We like to sit in the window and watch the cars go by. Cheryl was lovely as always and the food –  yummy! Gecko’s Grill on Main, I recommend the Chef Salad!

Speaking of watching life on Main Street go by . . . Councillor Mo Doerr  walked by and stopped in to say hi. Just out of a massage from Teresa, at Pur:Zen, she looked calm. I think it worked.

Time for just a little retail therapy with Moya and Dianne along Main St. A girl’s got to shop!

Now let’s get serious  . . What are those RipOff’s doing?

Wonderful to finally meet RipOff Artist, Bethany Handfield, love her work and we have been Facebook friends for awhile. Come down tomorrow to the Quail’s Nest on Airport Rd., meet her and the other RipOff’s celebrating 150 years of Canada and how we are today. Wrap party starts at 3:00.

Tula, Bethany’s young guest looked absolutely fabulous in her magenta hair all set to start work on her Encaustic creation under Bethany’s watchful eyes.

A special day outing for Kelowna Ladies, Liz Lavender, Susan Belton, Joy Fuerton and   Arlenn Morgan as they surround RipOff Artist Russel Work wanting to know –  Where is the Money?

Show me the Money. Russel shows them the money!

Come on down to the Quails Nests tomorrow at 3:00. Enjoy what these hard working creative artist have done . . . in the name of Money!

A Few Go Fast Cars in the Hood

Summer in Oliver brings lots of fast cars for our viewing pleasure with having Area 27 in the hood and car enthusiast taking their babies out for a drive, there are lots of great cars to admire at any given time. Here are just a few I have seen recently.

Saw this beauty on Main St. Anyone know what it is. I do! A ’71 Road Runner 446 Pack. Zoom Zoom

Does it get any prettier than this?

And a girl would look great getting out of this little gem for a round of golf.

That Little Black Dress

Fashion on Main St. starts at Oliver Shoe and Fashion, Sue is modelling that perfect little black dress we all need in our closets. From designer Michael Tyler this form fitting dress from his line, Sophia A, looks fabulous on all figure types. The mannequin top is from Vancouver designer Elspeth Gilmour, worked with her for years, bag by Baggilini, have a couple of these bags from Sue. Light, durable and styling. The perfect ensembles to wear to Music in the Park on Thursdays or as I like to say, just a little something to wear to the supermarkets.

BEYOND BLISS IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS….

There seems to be much confusion on the what’s happening at Beyond Bliss.  The building is going through a change, hence the chipped paint, we will be repainting it in a week or two.  I am phasing out clothing, jewellry and purses but Cass, Sarah, Dawn, Brenna and Emily are still available  to provide great service and make you beautiful…

I am exploring new venues at this time and everyone one will be notified of the changes when they happen.   I am taking my time to find the direction I want to go with the front of the shop.   I want to thank all the clients who for the last eight years have supported the retail end of the business, you are very much appreciated.

Money Money Money, its the RipOff’s World

The stars were out Monday night at the Quails Nest on Airport Rd. as the RipOff Artist opened their week long creative session ripping off the Ten Dollar Purple Canadian bill.

The room was full with guest like Britta Park sporting the best smile. Dressmaker Dianne Gibson wore a beautiful lace dress with that great shaved hairstyle of hers. Fashionably late, our council members arrived after taking care of the towns biz before they were on site to support the Artists. The fabulously talented Oliver Arts Council president Penelope Johnson was on site taking photos and writing for oliverartscouncil.org. Do take a peak at her story and for more info on the pre pieces and the Arts in Oliver.

MLA Linda Larsen and our own First lady Tara Hovanes were styling! Linda rocked a light print top over denim pencil skirt and Tara’s pill box hat and veil was just the perfect accessory to her Mom’s Broach on a white top she threw over a Painted Chair find. One of our fav places in Oliver.

Wild Woman Marion Trimble dressed down tonight in a modest length skirt as she was channeling Emily Carr in the Queen Charlottes. Marion raided Tara’s closet for her hat. However that major hat pin was her grandmothers.

Wild Woman Enid Baker wore a little crochet number representing the ladies from the “downstairs” of a 1867 proper manor home. Someone crocheted it, I put the ribbon in it. The pink is a nice contrast to the little bit of blue in Enid’s hair.

Another Wild Woman Terry Irvine looked fabulous in a felted Victorian bejewelled and wired hat she created for the occasion. Topping it off for a bit of mystery, her Granny’s veil.

JoAnn Turner was stunning in her copy of an 1867 hat. She built it on a wire frame and all the flowers and feathers were from the Dollar Store. The perfect accessory for her traditional dress made from her Mom’s fabric. Bling from either Mom’s or Aunty’s jewelbox.

Not to be left out the men of the RipOff’s were just as styling! Kurt Hutterli recycle his Toulous Le Trec hat for this challenge. Kirt upscaled this top hat with an Owl form Jack Shadbolt’s House of Owls. Looked smashing over his purple and Grey shirt.

In true celebration of 150 years of Canada, Russell Work styled the best hat. A little number in Red and White with just the right amount of maple leaves, spokes and elastic to show off his fabulous merino wool, yes wool in this heat, shirt direct form New Zealand!

Get down to the Quail’s Nest and check out these and more of the RipOff Artists. Enjoy the pre pieces and watch as each Artist’s money unfolds!
