Books, Big Books and Really Big Books

The students at Tuc-el-nuit Elementary have been helping me paint a mural of books at the entrance to the Pat McGibbon Memorial Library.

In the Okanagan language the word for library is sn’aunten (the “e” is upside down in the proper spelling, however I can’t do that in this program.)

I have enjoyed painting in the hall and chatting with the young ones. Learned a new mathematical word, forgot it already! Something about putting polygons together with no spaces! A world I use in conversation all the time!

However the thing I like the most is watching them interact with each other. This generation of young people accept the abilities of others with patience and understanding and enjoys each others cultures with wonder and curiosity.

Our future will be in good hands!
